The Cosmos Copa semifinals at Randall’s Island on Sunday featured two difficult matches. At the beginning of the day, a rematch between 2014 finalists NYC Gambia and NYC France was possible, but NYC Colombia and NYC Ireland wrote a new script and advanced to the finals.

Two more penalty shootouts were required to determine the 2015 Cosmos Copa semifinalists on Saturday night at Randall's Island. In a competition that has seen many close contests, 2014 champs NYC Gambia and upstarts NYC Colombia both edged through to the final four with wins over NYC Argentina and NYC El Salvador, respectively.

Group G in this year's Cosmos Copa is one to look out for. This group holds last year's champion, a newcomer, and two teams that are trying to recover from struggles in previous tournaments.
2014 belonged to NYC Gambia. The Gambians became the first African team to hoist the Cosmos Copa championship trophy last season, and they believe they can do it again this year.
