THE COSMOS COPA FINAL BY THE NUMBERS

In anticipation of tomorrow's Cosmos Copa Final at Macombs Dam Park in the Bronx, we crunched the numbers for NYC Haiti and NYC Poland in the last two tournaments.
Here are some trends that we noticed for the two finalists over the last two years:
- Both Squads average over 2 goals per game so this could definitely be a high scoring affair. NYC Haiti has averaged 2.56 goals per game while NYC Poland has averaged 2.09 goals per game. Haiti has been free scoring as of late and they are 2012's top scorers with 13 goals but they have yet to face a defense like Poland's.
- Haiti has allowed 1.78 goals per game compared to Poland's 0.82. This speaks to Poland's defensive organization compared to Haiti's more free flowing back and forth game.
- Poland on average only concedes 0.27 goals in the first half. This is a remarkable statistic and shows how focused Poland are. If Haiti hope to breech the Polish backline, they might have to wait till the second half when the Poles begin to tire or are searching for a goal themselves.
- Poland consistently gets the first goal. They notched the first strike in 85% of their matches. Haiti meanwhile has scored first only 72% of the time. Although in this final even if Poland do score first, don't count Haiti out as they have won all of their matches this year.
